Salad Days of Summer in the SouthEnd

While Summer is getting ready to come to a close, living in South Florida means that bathing suit days are far from over. As such, our comfort foods need to be both delicious and ultimately respectful to our waistlines (sorry mac & cheese).

Pokemon Go Invades the Palm Beach Zoo

Calling all Pokémon Go fans and addicts….Get your Pokeball throwing finger ready for this Saturday’s “Go Wild & Catch Em All” Pokémon party at the Palm Beach Zoo.

From 4:15-9:00, the Zoo will be hosting an off-the-hook, but on-the-grid Pokémon shindig that will delight all those hoping to add to their Pokémon collection, battle or get a gym workout in a safe environment.

Pokémon Go players will find approximately a dozen Poke Stops and one Gym inside the Zoo. Plus, the Zoo plans to drop lures all around the Zoo throughout the event.

With prizes to win, live music by Kat Man Duo, Pokémon crafts for younger children, Pokémon face painting, and a cash bar for the adults with special drinks in Team Valor, Mystic, and Pure colors, this is THE place to be for Pokémon Go fans of all ages.

And don’t worry about low battery levels cutting into your enjoyment of the festivities. The Zoo will have a charging table in the Fountain Plaza in case catching Pokemon wipes out your power. Bring your own connecting cables to plug into a standard power strip outlet.

West Palm Beach Budget Reveal This Thursday

It’s all about the money at August’s SENA General Meeting this Thursday, August 4 at the Palm Beach Zoo. Elected officials will be on hand to give a legislative update and reveal the proposed budget.

District 5 Community Budget Workshop with the Mayor and City Staff will start at 5:45 before the Legislative update.

The City’s finance department will make a presentation on the City’s proposed budget for October 1, 2016-September 30, 2017. This is a great time for you to review the proposed City budget with your neighbors and give your opinion on what you feel is most important in the budget.

Speakers for the Legislative Update include:
Mayor – Jeri Muoio
State Attorney – Dave Aronberg
Representative – Bill Hager
