Next Thursday, March 13th, at 6 PM The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium will be sponsoring a ‘Science on Tap’ event at  O’Shea’s pub on Clematis Street. Dr. William Bosking, Neuroscientist, will be giving a lecture titled ‘Visual Perception: How Our Brains Create the World We See’. For the price of a cup of coffee, beer or glass of wine, anyone can come and discuss science with a world-class scientist in a casual environment!

Saturday, March 8th: Evening on Antique Row

March 12: Deals for Seniors at the Science Museum

The second Wednesday of every month the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium offers a ‘Silver Science’ day promotion for visitors who are over 62 years of age. For just$7 visitors can enjoy over 50 educational exhibits, see a planetarium show, and learn from guest presenters about various topics.

This month’s Silver Science Day will be from 11 AM-5 PM with a planetarium show around 2 or 4 PM. Guest lecturer Mary Crider will be talking to guests about environmental science and conservation projects in West Palm Beach. For more information visit the event’s page here.

Fishing on Flagler: Atlantic Croaker

The Atlantic Croaker gets its name from the unusual croaking noise the fish makes. The Atlantic Croaker makes a sound by vibrating muscles against its swim bladder, creating a resonating chamber that allows it to make its characteristic croaking sound. These fish can be found in the Intracoastal Waterways off of Flagler Ave typically during the spring, summer, and fall.

This Weekend at the Science Museum: Laser Concert

It’s the second Saturday of the month and you know what that means? There will be laser concerts at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium! Come and enjoy classics by Pink Floyd (6:30), The Doors (7:30), and Bob Marley (8:30), and more while being entertained by a light show of lasers, stars, and other special effects. There will be popcorn and other refreshments available for purchase. 

Concerts will start at 6:30, are shown hourly, and will end around 9 PM

Girl Scout Spring Science Sleepover at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium

This Friday, March 7th, the South Florida Science Center and Museum will be hosting a science sleepover night for girl scouts. Participants will have the opportunity to see the night sky through the observatory telescope, plant a spring flower, learn about spring insects, and make edible dirt and worms!

March 15-17: Dress as a Leprechaun and Get Free Admission to the Palm Beach Zoo!

Come celebrate St. Patrick’s day weekend at the Palm Beach Zoo! Friday through Sunday, March 15th-17th, The Palm Beach Zoo will be offering $2.00 off of admission if you wear a leprechaun hat and free admission to anyone bold enough to dress as a leprechaun from head to toe. With regular admission being $18.95 for adults (13+) and $12.95 for kids, that’s not a bad trade-off!

This Weekend on Flagler: Irish Fest

This Weekend, March 8-9, The downtown waterfront area will be abuzz with the 26th annual Irish Fest. The celebration is to take place from noon-11 PM on Saturday and noon-8 PM on Sunday. On Sunday there will also be a Catholic mass in Gaelic at 11 AM. The cost of admission is $5 for adults and free for kids.

March 1st: Opening Game for 62nd year of Phipps Park Baseball!

This Satuday at 9:00 AM, March 1st, Phipps Park Youth Baseball will be having its opening game. This year marks the Park’s 62nd year of youth baseball! West Palm Beach Mayor, Ms. Jeri Muoio is expected to be there, as well as City Commissioner Shanon Materio and other VIP guests. It should be a very fun event with food, a good crowd, activities, and a great game! Parking will be limited so make sure to get there a little early.
