Fishing on Flagler: Atlantic Croaker

The Atlantic Croaker gets its name from the unusual croaking noise the fish makes. The Atlantic Croaker makes a sound by vibrating muscles against its swim bladder, creating a resonating chamber that allows it to make its characteristic croaking sound. These fish can be found in the Intracoastal Waterways off of Flagler Ave typically during the spring, summer, and fall.

This Weekend at the Science Museum: Laser Concert

It’s the second Saturday of the month and you know what that means? There will be laser concerts at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium! Come and enjoy classics by Pink Floyd (6:30), The Doors (7:30), and Bob Marley (8:30), and more while being entertained by a light show of lasers, stars, and other special effects. There will be popcorn and other refreshments available for purchase. 

Concerts will start at 6:30, are shown hourly, and will end around 9 PM

Girl Scout Spring Science Sleepover at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium

This Friday, March 7th, the South Florida Science Center and Museum will be hosting a science sleepover night for girl scouts. Participants will have the opportunity to see the night sky through the observatory telescope, plant a spring flower, learn about spring insects, and make edible dirt and worms!

Come celebrate St. Patrick’s day weekend at the Palm Beach Zoo! Friday through Sunday, March 15th-17th, The Palm Beach Zoo will be offering $2.00 off of admission if you wear a leprechaun hat and free admission to anyone bold enough to dress as a leprechaun from head to toe. With regular admission being $18.95 for adults (13+) and $12.95 for kids, that’s not a bad trade-off!

March 1st: Opening Game for 62nd year of Phipps Park Baseball!

This Satuday at 9:00 AM, March 1st, Phipps Park Youth Baseball will be having its opening game. This year marks the Park’s 62nd year of youth baseball! West Palm Beach Mayor, Ms. Jeri Muoio is expected to be there, as well as City Commissioner Shanon Materio and other VIP guests. It should be a very fun event with food, a good crowd, activities, and a great game! Parking will be limited so make sure to get there a little early.

Race for the Arts 5K and Color Me 4K Fun Run/Walk on March 1st at Dreher Park

The 13th annual Race for the Arts 5K and 2nd annual Color Me 4k run/walk will be held Saturday, March 1st, at Dreher Park. The money raised will be used to support arts programs in Palm Beach County Schools. There will be music, dancing, student art work, raffles, and games before and after the race.

Mr. Syd Kitson, President and CEO of Kitson & Partners and former NFL player, will be speaking to attendees about his plan to build a solar-powered city, Babcock Ranch, in Southwest Florida.
