This Saturday night, June 14th, The Palm Beach Zoo will be hosting ‘Roar and Pour’ a cocktail and live music event. Admission begins at 4:30 PM and drink service begins at 5:30 PM. This week’s band will be Calamity Janea vintage rock band. There will also be food, keeper talks, and close-up animal encounters.

June Only: Good Student Discount at the Palm Beach Zoo

For the month of June, The Palm Beach Zoo will be discounting the cost of a child’s regular cost admission by $1.00 for every ‘A’ on their final report card. A limit of 5 ‘A’s for the discount means that admission can be as cheap as $7.95! Copies of report cards will not be accepted. For more information, visit the event website here.

Science Summer Camp 2014 at the Science Museum

The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium will be starting its summer camp sessions next week, June 9th. Each camp is a week long and has a science based theme. The cost per week is $210 for members and $235 for non members, except for the week of June 30 – July 3rd which is $170 for members and $190 for non-members. There will be 10 weeks of camp total. June 23-27: Robotics Boot Camp at the Science Museum

This Summer camp will be providing kids with an opportunity to make their own robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, very cool. The cost is $210 for members and $235 for non members. Also, If you register before June 10th you get a cool ‘Robotics Science Club Patch!’ To register, click here.

Saturday May 17th: End of Phipps Park Baseball Season Party!

The Phipps Park baseball season will be concluding on Saturday, May 17th. Following the last games, there will be a party at E.R Bradley’s Beach Club in Lake Worth to celebrate the end of the season. There will be a BBQ, bounce house, and a magician!

Upcoming FCAT Schedule for South Olive Elementary

It’s FCAT Season for Palm Beach County Schools! South Olive Elementary will not be allowing visitors or volunteers on campus for the following dates:

-April 16th-17th for FCAT Reading

(grades 3-5)

-April 21st-22nd for FCAT Math (grades 3-4)

and Science (grade 5).

 

5th grade students will be taking Computer based Math Assessments from April 23rd – May 2nd. Individual class schedules TBA.

Rusty Barge by Summa Beach Finally Removed!

Residents of the Southend who enjoy walking or jogging along Flagler Avenue can rejoice because after 4 months, the massive rusty barge off of the coast of Summa Beach has finally been removed.

The barge was towed away on Wednesday, March 19th, after months of resident’s complaints.
